There’s so much to cover! Geology or Earth Sciece covers all sorts of things, from how the planets form to the evolution of life, from the formation of natural resources to climate change. It’s a huge subject and will have lots of interest for anyone keen on science. Working as a geologist can mean looking at ways to store CO2 to reduce climate chage as easily as it can mean finding oil and gas, it can be working to understand how climate change effects coral or how past climate responded to the formation of new mountain belts, or volcanic eruptions. Some colleagues look at the impact of volcanoes, others on the impacts of earthquakes, others on esteroid impacts. One thing that is important is that almost everything we make or build wouldn’t be possible without earth sciences, and managing our planet and the effect we (as humas) have on it is part of what almost all geoscientists are woking on.
If you are interested in geoscience, envinmental science, or any of tehe other flavours of earth science, you should think about doing chemistry, physcis and maths at A level. Geology brings together elements from all these subjects. Most students studying geology do not have an A level in Geology.
Hi.
Chemistry is awesome because it covers everything! Chemistry is the polymers that make up the microfleece that you might be wearing to keep warm. Chemistry is beer making and gin distillation. Chemistry is what gives us golden syrup. Chemistry is understanding the trails that aeroplanes leave in the sky. Chemistry is drug development or forensic science or understanding plants and animals (combined with biology so it’s called biochemistry). Chemistry is everything.
